Abstract
This chapter argues that welfare state professionals’ treatment of minority groups has played a defining role in shaping and determining the Danish welfare nation-state’s inner workings, that is, the public good understood as a justifying referent for governing. The professional work defining and constructing these minority groups serves as an important prism for understanding statist capital and the public good functioning as the legitimating source of governing during the Danish welfare nation-state’s constitutive years.
