Abstract

Occupational stress is an increasing challenge among teachers in the Scandinavian countries. In conjunction with work-related depressions and other psychological stress responses, stress causes more than half of early retirement pensions granted to long-term sick leave teachers in Denmark. Through work life stories from teachers as well as other actors related to primary school the article focuses on articulated causes of stress and burnout.
