Abstract
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is a critical concern in DC-fed motor drives, as it can degrade system performance and reliability. This paper presents a systematic approach for deriving the filter design oriented EMI equivalent model of a three-phase DC-fed motor drive system, aiming at enhancing the understanding of EMI mechanisms and facilitating effective mitigation strategies. The methodology involves deriving common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) equivalent models for the motor drive system by identifying critical components and paths for EMI propagation. A time-frequency analytical modeling approach is proposed in this paper, providing flexibility in the modeling process. Ultimately, the proposed methodology facilitates accurate EMI prediction which helps in filter design during the design phase.
