    Abstract

The annual report is the company's one-yearly statement of affairs or outlook presented to its shareholders and other interested parties. In this paper, interest is not solely in the financial performance and achievements of international companies, but also involves the way business information is communicated to the public. Taking its starting point in Conceptual Metaphor Theory, the paper investigates the role of metaphor in structuring understanding and in providing a particular image of the company and its strategies.
