The DesignWorkshop: A Melting Pot of Participation Positions in Learning through Co-creative Inquiry

Research output: Contribution to conference without publisher/journalPaper without publisher/journalResearch

Abstract

As a contribution to the emerging field of explorative and transformative research approaches, the paper suggest the DesignWorkshop as a methodology that enables research and organizational learning. The intent is to develop an approach that deals with real-time complex problems in organizations and research, while generating knowledge on how to integrate theory and practice in research and work within organizations. To illustrate the approach in action, I present a case study, where I am defining, testing and refining the practice and concept of the DesignWorkshop as a method for learning through co-creative
inquiry. I suggest a theoretical framework of design principles in the DesignWorkshop inspired by the philosopher and educator John Dewey. In an integrated process of conceptualizing and analyzing, I develop the framework as a tool to analyze the participation positions enabled in the DesignWorkshop.
