Abstract

"Study an information system and neglect its standards, wires, and settings, and you miss equally essential aspects of aesthetics, justice, and change" (Star, 1999: 389).
Embracing the “practice turn” in organizational research (Orlikowski, 2000), this paper study digitalization and associated standards as an organizational practice. In particular, we concentrate on what happens when standards and categorization inscribes into certain digital information technology platforms and how this influences professional work.
