Abstract

In this paper we will use examples from the Mediterranean Virtual University (MVU) project to explore the concept of problem based learning in design and delivery of online courses. The discussion will focus on the establishment of a framework and the role of problem based learning within this framework. Basically the discussion revolves around the question of balance between standards and homogeneity on the one side and the need for flexibility and variations on the other side.
