    Abstract

This report describes a series of laboratory tests and 'in situ' investigations performed for assessing the usefulness of unventilated roof tile underlays especially as regards moisture transport and accumulation. Computer simulations, laboratory tests, full-scale tests in a test house and 'in situ' investigations were performed. The results of the investigations show that unventilated roof tile underlays can be used under certain clearly specified circumstances. This report is primarily aimed at designers, contractors and suppliers who wish to be more thoroughly informed about how roof tile underlays affect moisture transport accumulation.
