Abstract
The article examines the sitation in Danish law where a deceased person leaves no heirs and the State has the possibility to relinquish the inheritance to a closely related person. The outset is the only published Danish judgement on the matter which concerns kinship (cousins). It is questioned whether the Danish State would, in any situation, exercise the option to relinquish inheritance to kin outside the closest family relation.
