Abstract

Adoption and effective use of information and communication technology (ICT) becomes a need for organizations of any size and type, however, ICT adoption is still a challenge for organizations, its implementation must be a strategic decision that involves design, delivery and use of software systems. It influences the business processes, and therefore a business practice should be redeveloped and redefined, furthermore the control over the ICT practice has become very important in the recent years.
Some frameworks, methodologies and bodies of knowledge have been developed to support governance of IT and aligning between business and ICT strategies. COBIT is one of the frameworks used to governance and management of enterprise IT. It provides principles, practices, tools and models to help to increase the trust in, and value from, information systems.

This paper describe how Monarch, a small consulting company from Costa Rica, is using action learning to implement COBIT in the financial sector in Costa Rica.
