Research on Sociology of Knowledge

Prize: Research, education and innovation prizes

Description

This is a theory building research project aiming to contribute to the Research on Sociology of Knowledge through examining content and form or type of new knowledge (formal-informal, empirical-ideal, thinkable-unthinkable, useful-useless), and ways and processes by which new knowledge is established. The purpose is to advance the theory of legitimation of newness and uncertainty, their emergence and impact (positive and negative) on social behaviour and the role of ‘social’ time. Romeo V. Turcan, Principal Investigator, will be staying at the University of Cambridge Department of Sociology for a period of 5 months, starting in Feb, 2024 and will be working under the aegis of Prof Patrick Baert.
