Description

Abstract:

Power converter is becoming more and more predictable, making a digital twin concept a reality on many components. With a converter digital twin model, one can get the converter status both in operation and design stage. However, still some problems exists: 1) Accurate components model is not verified for PV applications 2) system level digital twins concerning model/electrical/heat/EMI are not synthesized. 3) real-time system digital twin model is still far from reality.
This PhD project focuses on first two objects: 1) to build verified component, thermal coupling and EMI model. This includes GaN device switching/loss model, inductor inductance/parasitc/loss model, capacitor capacitance/parasitic/loss model, DM EMI modeling, ground capacitance/CM EMI modeling, thermal impedance network modeling and characterization. 2) to build power converter level synthetization. This includes package the models into code, code structure organization, calculation stability, model simplification and acceleration, converter level acceleration, digital twin forming.
The simplified model is to instruct converter optimization. A better compact PV converter is expected. Another output is digital twin model, this model is expected to show the real electric/thermal index as real compact PV converter.
