Practices and Policies of Integrating Immigrants in Industrial Regions - Examined at the cases of Dortmund and Sheffield

The central questions of this PhD project are: How do immigrants and natives interact and what is integration. The empirical material of this project comprises biographic interviews with natives and immigrants living in two old inner city neighbourhoods of the old steel towns Dortmund and Sheffield. The interviews are interpreted using a hermeneutic sequence analysis. This analysis will follow the three dimensions of people, space and time.
