This direction deals with glass as a building material and the production of glass with emphasis on the float glass technique. Moreover it describes a number of fundamental properties of glass. Multiple glazing and glass functions are throroughly dealt with, including construction, solar control, low emissivity, heat and sound insulation, safety and security, fire protection, facade cladding and translucency. The direction aims at everybody wishing to obtain fundamental knowledge about glass in building.
