    Abstract

This paper discusses the use of mobile communication and the spread of internet cafés, which are both growing rapidly in today’s Vietnam. Daily life in Vietnam is a complex mix of modern and traditional, public and private; the use of mobile phones, internet, and other communication possibilities fit into this mix, while at the same time pushing it to a new balance.
