Abstract
This paper proposes a new fuzzy-direct power control (F-DPC) strategy for quality improvement in shunt active power filter system. The main objective of this study is to minimize the total harmonic current distortion (THDi) and the instantaneous power ripple. This is affected by the replacement of the hysteresis regulators by fuzzy rules. The basic idea of these rules is based on the acquaintance of the variation in the active and reactive power. Regarding to the input fuzzy variables and in a precise instant, the most best switching state of the converter is chosen. the strength of this control strategy, compared to the conventional DPC, are that it is not required to introduce hysteresis controllers, and sleek control of active and reactive power is achieved. The proposed F-DPC control was simulated and compered with conventional DPC under Matlab/Simulink 2013b. The obtained results show that the proposed configuration is better compared to the conventional configuration of the DPC based on hysteresis comparators.
