Capacity Improvement in Local Transport Policy and Planning - Learning from Successes and Failures in European Cities

The primary aims of the research project can be summarised as follows: -To identify how and why specific processes of local transport policy-making and planning, in several European cities, have succeeded or failed. -To understand such processes in relation to an analytical perspective that identifies variables of capacity in local transport policy-making and planning processes from an environmental perspective. -To discuss empirical findings in relation to different theoretical approaches on how to understand environmental capacity-building as well as the dynamics of environmental policy change. -However, most importantly: On background of the above, to establish a platform of knowledge and suggestions on how to build and improve the capacity in urban communities for transport policy and planning from an environmental perspective.
