Beskrivelse
We undertake research to improve predictions of the impact of environmental stressors on crop production, ecosystem services, and biodiversity. This contributes to knowledge that helps secure sustainable feed and food production in Denmark under climate change while suggesting measures to sustain biodiversity and reduce pollution. Our experimental work to date is typically laboratory based. To verify our findings under more realistic conditions, upscale laboratory findings, and incorporate critical biotic interactions, we need access to purpose-built greenhouse space that can simulate extreme events. We are therefore glad that we have obtained funding from the Carlsberg foundation to construct a multipurpose greenhouse and insectary facility, where climate variables can be controlled from subarctic to tropical conditions and where climatic parameters including light, humidity, CO2, temperature, and water availability can be managed. The facility includes sufficient space for large plant work and an insectary, allowing investigations of plant-invertebrate interactions.
