Environmental assessment of transport corridors and drivers for green transport at Port of Hirtshals

Projektdetaljer

Lægmandssprog

The project develops in two directions. One objective is to evaluate the environmental footprint of different existing transport corridors in the Nordic area, i.e. alternative routes to move goods from A to B, for example from Germany to Norway. This is done by performing a LCA and the main trade-off investigated is sea (ferry) versus road (truck) transport. The second objective is to understand why importers are becoming increasingly interested in getting documentation about the impact related to transport, and how this is supposed to affect the sector. This is done by performing interviews with both transport service providers and their customers. The project started in the end of 2017 and is expected to be concluded in the spring 2018. The project's commissioner is Port of Hirtshals. The project is being implemented by DCEA in cooperation with the Port of Hirtshals.
