Abstract
This paper focuses on this emerging intersection of Russian Arctic discourse and agenda with the matters related to Greenland and its role in the Arctic. Using a number of discourse analytical strategies (anchored in CDA, MDA, CA), it examines how Russian international Arctic participation is constructed in political talk and interaction and their media representation in connection to the opening of the Russian Honorary Consulate in Greenland. The paper grasps the (de)securitising dynamics of Russian-Danish and Russian-Greenland’s relations in the Arctic by providing a close and nuanced examination of how the actors categorise and project the present and the future of these relations discursively around and away from the issues of threat and security.
