Abstract
As part of its activities The European Institute of Gender Equality (EIGE) aims to promote the use of gender-sensitive and inclusive language. To support this, it has developed the Gender Equality Glossary and Thesaurus. Focused on gender equality, this tool aims to promote a common understanding of gender equality terms across the EU, as well as improve equality between women and men through the use of inclusive language. This tool was developed in cooperation with EU and national-level stakeholders, including academia and partners of EIGE’s Resource and Documentation Centre. At Aalborg University, associate professors Stine Thidemann Faber and Helene Pristed Nielsen have ensured conformity of the language used in the translated glossary and thesaurus versions with the language used by the Danish gender equality community. The hav further provided translations for additional gender equality terms in Danish and have mapped and offered to EIGE complete information on existing glossary and thesauri in Danish.
