    Abstract

Set in the context of current debates about the importance of linking VET, innovation, and regional economic development policies, this chapter draws on concepts and debates from the field of economic geography—in particular, the notion of learning regions (LRs)—to rethink the conceptualization of learning associated with VET. Using the UK as a case study, it critically examines the ideas about learning that underpin the literature on LRs, and it explores the implications of more recent evolutionary approaches.
