Symposium Authorization of the music therapy profession: Status and issues seen from a Nordic, - European and international perspective. The symposium will present the state of the art of the music therapy profession from the perspective of official recognition and authorisation. Representatives from the UK and Austria will first present the history and current status of the music therapy profession where there is official governmental authorisation. This is followed by a presentation of the status and issues concerning the Scandinavian countries that are in the process of applying for official governmental authorisation. Representatives from Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark will detail the work in their countries. This will be followed by a discussion covering two important issues: is the authorisation we apply for in each country identical, and how can we best support each other?
