Project Details

Description

The main purposes of the project are to investigate the technologies of DC short circuit current interruption in hybrid AC\DC grids with considerations of renewable energy integration, such as wind power. And it is expected to provide timely and cost-efficient restoration solutions for the possible blackouts and outages in the hybrid AC\DC grids in the post-fault stage, according to applied different protection philosophies and DCCB implementation in pre- and during fault stages.

The project will develop a coordinated operation strategy not only between protection equipment, e.g. detection equipment and acting equipment; and also between the protection and control, including fault related restoration control in multi-terminal HV DC\AC systems in different time scales. The main outcomes of the project are new strategies and related demonstrations of protection and control in the modern power systems, which are designed and developed in a Hardware-In-the-Loop real time simulating and testing environment.
