Abstract

Engineering decision making necessitates that engineering models are established and calibrated to observations. On the basis of the preceding chapters, the focus of the four lectures of the present chapter is thus on how to utilize the fundamental understanding and available methods and tools for the representation of information and uncertainty in order to establish, update and validate probabilistic engineering models based on observations.
