Abstract

This paper proposes a fast interpolation algorithm based on triangular and linear scaling functions. The new pixel is estimated by rounding the output the triangular and linear scaling functions. Preliminary experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is faster than the traditional single kernel based interpolation methods, mentioned. Also, the proposed algorithm produced better images than the nearest neighbor algorithm at a comparable speed. Furthermore, experiments conducted using cardiac ultrasound data proved that the sectored images details obtained using the proposed algorithm were better than in case of the nearest neighbor algorithm.
