Abstract

The book presents the Danish results of an international study of ICT in education (SITES 2006). The results are based on questionnaires directed at school principals, teacher teaching matematics and science in grade 8 as well as technical coordinators at the schools. The study shows that Danish primary and lower secondary schools are well equiped with both hardware and software, and the teachers use ICT when teaching the classes. Further, the school principals supports the use of ICT. However, the study at the same time identify some scepticism when it comes to the importance of ICT both in relation to teaching practice and the students' results. The study also points at a change in the main pedagogical paradigm in Danish primary and lower secondary schools since 1998. Compared to 1998, there is today more focus on traditional pedagogical values at the expence of values related to a lifelong learning paradigm.
