    Abstract

In this paper we present an improved e-voting protocol for online elections based on the scheme proposed by Lin--Hwang--Chang. We show that Lin--Hwang--Chang's scheme has two important weaknesses. We describe in detail our findings and propose a new scheme to overcome these weaknesses effectively. To test our protocol, we implemented a distributed e-voting system. Finally we evaluate and compare our protocol with other previously proposed schemes.
