Abstract

Offshore Wind power is an emerging source of huge renewable energy source. Several offshore wind power plants have been conceived in the seas around Europe. VSC-HVDC transmission is another recent technology suitable for connecting the offshore wind power plants to the mainland power grid network for subsequent transmission and distribution to load centers. Simulation of VSC-HVDC for Wind Power Transmission enables a detailed study of the interaction between these two technologies so as to harness wind power potential while economizing the system costs. A simulation model is described here.
