    Beskrivelse

This research workshop seeks to bring together original insights/papers from relevant disciplines/programmes & regions with a focus on regional differences/divergencies. It seeks to advance analysis of the state of inter- & intra-regionalisms given the global crisis in which the old North is stagnant & the new global South is burgeoning. Macro to micro 'regions' are themselves increasingly fluid & problematic as they seek to respond to Asia's seemingly exponential ascendancy symbolised by the proliferation of FTAs in that region & now renegotiation advanced by the US of a BRICS-free Trans-Pacific Partnership? Given the rise of the 'rest', especially the BRICS, varieties of 'capitalisms', including 'new' state capitalisms centred on SOEs, are apparent. And myriad related regional 'projects' or trends are on offer, including multi-level 'regional' conflicts. The established North-South axis may be superceded by an East-South one? But distinctions between emerging markets/economies/states/powers/societies need to be identified, debated & clarified. Will short-term rebalancing lead to sustainable restructuring?
