Beskrivelse

The main objective of this project is to identify iterative techniques that perform interference cancellation for small handset terminals equipped with dual antennas in GSM/EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN). Co-channel and adjacent channel interference -- or expressed in more general terms -- multiple-access interference is a dominant limiting factor in wireless communication networks. Single Antenna Interference Cancellation (SAIC) and multiple-element antennas deployed in handset terminals have been identified to be among the most efficient techniques for mitigating the effect of multiple-access interference at the mobile.

The aim of this project is to develop a solution combining both methods in an iterative structure consisting of low complex blocks that exchange some kind of information in an iterative manner. The focus will be on the identification of feasible iterative structures developed within the context of the 3GPP standards.

The project is conducted in co-operation with Siemens A/S Mobile Phone Development.
