    Abstract

Deals with two trends in danish music and music teaching from the late 1920es and on: a trend inspired from German music (Hindemith a.o.) and teaching of music (Jöde a.o.), in Denmark represented by Finn Høffding a.o., and a trend based on jazz music, conceived and developed by Bernhard Christensen. Both trends are associated whith a danish cultural leftist movement and concept, "kulturradikalismen", and it is argued, that this concept is relevant and necessary in research dealing with the history of danish music in the middle of the 20th century. The development of the two trends after 1945 is sketched, and some reflexions in recent theory of music teaching is touched upon.
Bidragets oversatte titelCultural leftist trends and traces in danish music and music teaching [in 20th century]: or why a historian of music takes interest in the field of music teaching.
