Evaluation of the Video-ambulance project

Project Details

Description

In 2011, the Pre-hospital unit in The Northern Region of Denmark initiated a project to estab-lish video facilities in part of the ambulances in the region. These facilities launch video-communication between the paramedics at the scene, and the physician at the hospital and add new possibilities to an already established mobile telephone contact between the para-medics and the physician on call in the required specialty. The video makes it possibly for the physician at the hospital to see and communicate with the patient from the time when the paramedics are on the scene, e.g. in the patient’s own home as well as while driving in the am-bulance to the hospital.
The video facilities were expected to be implemented in spring 2013, but because of technical difficulties, the implementation took place in spring 2014. The objective of this evaluation is to analyze the usefulness of the system from the physicians and the paramedic’s perspective.
