Description

Partial Differential Equations and Applied Functional Analysis are classical areas of mathematics which have a strong interrelation with a broad range of subjects in physics, chemistry, and the engineering sciences. The subject is broad and covers a wide range of classical and modern mathematical analysis, encompassing both theory and construction and implementation of numerical methods. The hasty development of computational means and access to ever increasing computing power has further invigorated the area and its use in applications, thus underlying the need for a strong scientific basis within this field of research. This project will maintain and further develop the Danish research in the area and support collaboration in research both nationally and internationally. The scientific area covered by the network is Partial Differential Equations and Applied Functional Analysis, with a concentration on Control and Optimization,Wavelets and Microlocal Analysis, Geometric and Spectral Analysis, and Numerical Methods.
