Proteomics on membrane proteins in P. aeruginosa

Using proteomics, we have identified a number of membrane proteins which help bacteria form biofilm, i.e. dense layers of bacteria on solid surfaces. Biofilms are a great problem in devices ranging from medical implants to sewage pipes, as they are not nearly as vulnerable to antibiotics as their free-living counterparts (Hans Bolvinkel, Guy Bauw, Per H.
