Doubtful knowledge

    Project Details

    Description

The project relates four different notions: perspective, mathematics, knowledge and doubt. The aim of the project is to provide an analysis of knowledge which reveals as myths the modern conception for knowledge, defined through different assumption, for instance the assumption of progress which claims that the development of scientific knowledge is the true motor of progress.

The project analyses different formulations of perspectivism which has been developed with reference to Nietzsche's philosophy. The project develops further my analysis of mathematics in action. On this basis it elaborates the notion of knowledge in action by addressing: knowledge as fabrication, knowledge as power, knowledge at the market, and the ‘banality of expertise'. Finally the notion of doubt is related to the notions of knowledge and life-world (although in a radical different interpretation than the one provided by Husserl).

The project is a continuation of the epistemological analysis presented in my book Travelling Through Education. The project will be followed by the project Doubtful Learning, which is a continuation of the learning theoretical analysis presented in the same book.
