Automatic Orientation of Aerial Images on Topographic Databases-An Overview

Research output: Contribution to book/anthology/report/conference proceedingBook chapterResearch

Abstract

The contents of modern topographic databases as well as the demands for updating of these data are explained with the example of Denmark. Methods for the automatic orientation are then presented. They are based on matching of patches extracted from an existing orthoimage and from a new aerial image. The procedures for detecting and eliminating blunders are explained. Possibilities of checking the results are mentioned as well. In a conclusion the benefits of such an automated approach are discussed.
