Abstract
The rise of digital shop floors enables real-time sharing of process details. Transitioning to digital visualisation boards (VBs) enhances transparency in monitoring shop floor operations. Despite academic attention, practitioners lack clear guidelines, especially in terms of technical feasibility. Our research aims to fill this gap by examining digital VB transitions over the past five years, contributing to theoretical discourse on their impact in managing shop floor tasks. Our findings are unequivocal: practitioners lack a clear understanding of needed VB functionalities, resulting in the pursuit of fail bound transitions hindered by roadblocks due to inadequate preparatory work.
