Abstract

The glasses and glass-ceramics obtained in the system Na2O/CaO/SiO2/Fe2O3 are the subject of the present investigation. The phase composition and the microstructure are characterized by x-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy. The electrical properties are investigated by impedance spectroscopy. An attempt is done to establish the effect of the phase composition on the structure and the conductivity. The dependency of the microstructure on the thermal history of the synthesised materials and the resulting effect on the conductivity of the samples are studied.
