QU led research offers hope for early detection of blood cancer

A research team, including Professor Søren Kristensen from Aalborg University Hospital, has used advanced metabolomics and biostatistics to identify blood markers for early detection of multiple myeloma (MM), the second most common type of blood cancer. The team used Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy to contrast the serum metabolomes of healthy subjects with those diagnosed with MM and its precursor, Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance (MGUS).
