Beskrivelse
The harbour authorities in Aalborg have entered a research collaboration with various departments at Aalborg University to develop the technologies to automate sailing in the Limfjord and the harbour. The vision is that sometime in the future it will not be necessary to take on an authorized pilot when navigating the fjord and the harbour. Currently, paying for piloting services is required for merchant ships of a certain size.
The Architecture, Design and Media Technology department at Aalborg University have been contracted and funded by Aalborg Havn A/S to develop and implement an interactive installation to communicate this vision and the research to the public. The i-Pilot demonstrator will be on public display for the inauguration of Forskningens Døgn (Research Day) in April 2014, and again during the 3 months of Universtarium in the summer of 2014.
