Abstract

In order to provide correlations between equivalent temperature and local thermal sensation vote for the implementation into a real time computational fluid dynamics simulation environment an experimental study was setup. The study was performed in a climatic chamber at different temperature settings using 24 subjects wearing three different types of clothing. During one hour of exposure the subjects were asked to evaluate their local thermal sensation at different parts of the body. For each body part a regression equation for the interrelation of equivalent temperature and local thermal sensation vote was found. A first validation with a different group of subjects implies that the correlations found are suitable.
