Introduction to part 3: Integrated solutions for smart production

This part will contain a collection of papers that all describes general solutions for Smart Production (e.g., CPS, collaborative robots, IIoT, reconfigurable manufacturing systems, paperless production, predictive analytics, additive manufacturing etc.) which integrates several enabling technologies to be presented in Part 4 into applications of relevance to SMEs. The general concepts will be presented and illustrated by examples and case studies. The benefits and challenges for SMEs associated with realizing the concepts will be discussed. This could include aspects such as: which opportunities do the concepts/applications provide the SMEs; can the SMEs do the implementation themself; which managerial and decision capabilities are needed.
