Ideas for Student Projects or Thesis (Contact me if you are interested in one of the following topics or other related ones)

  • Implementing an augmented reality (AR) application that detects the Nokia phones located at the CMI premises and shows overlayed information related to each phone. The project includes topics of:
    - Computer Vision
    - Machine Learning
    - Mobile Programming
  • Using the Comau e.DO arm robot: https://edo.cloud/edo-experience/ to implement different types of projects.
  • Using the BlueROV2 underwater robot: https://bluerobotics.com/store/rov/bluerov2/
    • This could be used to perform some underwater analysis in the canals around the AAU campus. We could perform different things, such as underwater object detection, etc. Again, other ideas are welcomed.
  • Developing projects with drones, such as the One DJI Mavic Air drone (https://droner.dk/dji-mavic-air-onyx-black-startpakke) and other smaller ones.
    • These could be used to monitor a building etc., image recognition software and other ML tools could be employed.
    • The small drones could be used to work in a group.
  • Different other projects related to IoT devices, such as LoRa development kits:https://www.dragino.com/products/lora/item/120-lora-iot-kit.html and different LoRa nodes.
  • Using machine learning for detecting river water pollution via crowdsourced images.
  • Distributed machine learning framework (collection points).
  • Computation offloading from underwater robots to the edge of the network (ROS programming language).
