Ground-breaking roof tile solution for solar energy collection

Large-scale piloting and qualification:
Pilot test installations will be done by installing the solar roof tile (E-Tile+) at 4 detached residential houses in NO, DK. This will include a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation (M&E) procedure to assess E-Tile+ based on performance indicators and initial testing requirements derived from task 1.1. Part of the pilot planning process will involve benchmarking E-Tile + versus alternative commercially available technologies. This will include plans for live benchmarking (task 2.2) and further retrospective benchmarking of KPIs and impacts (task 2.4).
Qualification tests will be performed based on IEC 61215-2:2021 to identify any shortfalls in recorded versus expected performance, identify weaknesses in the E-Tile+ design, and correct any mechanical weaknesses in the design of E-Tile+ discovered during the large-scale pilot. The E-Tile+ will be tested both in the PV outdoor test platform and also in the climatic chamber available at AAU Energy.
