Potency markers for Adipose-derived Stem Cells for treatment of Chronic Wounds

Projektdetaljer

Beskrivelse

Many diabetic patients develop chronic wounds, that are notoriously hard to treat and that often lead to amputations. Recently, it has been found that application of stem cells from fat tissue (adipose-derived stem cells) could promote healing of otherwise chronic wounds. Previous research has demonstrated that stem cells from different donors have different potentials for the treatment of chronic wounds. This project aims to support the production of effective stem cell-based products, by developing a standardized potency panel which could be used to quantitatively screen and classify adipose-derived stem cells according to their effectiveness in relation to the clinical outcome for healing of chronic wounds. This test would allow for the better selection of superior stem cell donors, thereby increasing the effectiveness of treatments, saving time and money and increase convenience for the patients and the system.
