Abstract
This study has explored the pattern of even and odd stator coils in bearingless double u-core switched reluctance machine (bearingless double u-core SRM) and examined their effects in the bearingless control strategy. In this investigation, the currents in the stator coils have the responsibility for holding the rotor in the center and controlling the airgap simultaneously with producing the torque and rotating the machine. This approach brings considerable interest in the future for the control system of bearingless SRMs by suspension manipulating using torque generating coils, without having any friction and erosion. To assess the behaviour of the bearingless double u-core SRM, dynamic model of the machine is evaluated under the same conditions for two different scenarios of three and four double u-cores in the stator structure. The results are stated in terms of implications of achieving the desired speed, possessing maximum force in the x- and y- direction and detecting airgap displacement while minimizing eccentricity.
