Description

Research led by Marianne Thomsen, Professor of Sustainability Assessment at the University of Copenhagen, and, among others, Albert Kwame Osei-Owusu, a Postdoc at the Department of Sustainability and Planning at Aalborg University, suggests that halving Europe's food loss and waste could solve global food shortages. The study found that reducing food waste in Europe's supply chains could save 8% of the greenhouse gas emissions caused by food consumption in Europe, 6% of agricultural and grazing areas, 7% of water consumption, and 14% of energy used in food production.
