Description

Water in Urban Areas
Water in Urban Areas is an interdisciplinary partnership on climate adaptation, liveable cities and innovation that has received funds from The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation in the years 2010-2014. The partnership connects more than 100 partners from both private and public organizations as well as researchers from several scientific institutions in Denmark and a number of international partners.
DIST takes part of the management of the partnership and caries out research in the following areas:
- Innovation and change in the water sector as a large socio-technical system
- Innovative climate adaption with citizens focusing resilience and interconnection of local knowledge and expertise
- Cities in water balance, citizen perspectives on more water qualities
- Developing a concept of climate schools, including exploring schools as local climate centres.
Through case studies, surveys and action research, the Centre develops knowledge on how to support the complex processes of transitions in cities and on involving citizens in developing resilient cities.
The participating knowledge institutions besides Aalborg University include The Technical University of Denmark (project manager), University of Copenhagen, Danish Technological Institute, Aarhus University.
Project Manager at AAU is Birgitte Hoffmann. For more information see www.vandibyer.dk.
