Tourism research at the Department of Culture and Learning is supported through the academic network Tourism Research Unit - TRU. The network focuses on five main areas:
1. Consumer behaviour and identity construction;
2. Interorganisational relationships (networks, alliances, collaborations);
3. Regional development processes and strategies;
4. Tourism and cross-sectoral branding;
5. Strategic market communications and product development.
Due to tourism’s cross disciplinary character, many of these research areas are interrelated and result in innovative thinking both with regard to theoretical conceptualisation and practical solutions. Many of the research projects within TRU take place through collaboration with external partners, and in this way we develop cross fertilisation between theoretical challenges and concrete empirical problems, which results in knowledge that is useful for academics and practitioners.
